News & Notes

CORAL GABLES, Fla. (Jan. 6, 2022) — Nicholas Prieto knew he’d been making enough birdies to deliver a strong challenge at the Junior Orange Bowl International Golf Championships. He just needed to come up with a way to avoid the other end of the ledger. “Just a few too many mistakes,” the Miami teen noted. “The second, third and fourth days were all fairly similar. The only difference is the fourth day I didn’t make any bogeys.”

CORAL GABLES, Fla. (Jan. 5, 2022) — Maria Jose Marin spent her first seven holes waiting for something good to happen on the greens during the third round of the 58th Junior Orange Bowl International Golf Championships. Good fortune finally came when Marin drained a long birdie attempt at the Biltmore Golf Club’s tough 17th hole. Then she chipped within a foot for a tap-in birdie before making the turn.

CORAL GABLES, Fla. (Jan. 4, 2022) — Day 2 of the Junior Orange Bowl International Golf Championships was one of those in which it didn’t take much to make a strong move up the leaderboard – if only you could. A shift in wind direction, combined with a few tougher pin placements, left scoring chances in short supply for the 93 golfers teeing it up at historic Biltmore Golf Club.
