The Junior Orange Bowl in partnership with the South Florida Writers Association presents the 33rd annual Junior Orange

Bowl Creative Writing Contest. The contest is open to eighth graders in South Florida. The theme for this essay competition

is "How Has Nature Helped Me in This Time of Pandemic?" Books & Books and Coral Gables Museum are valued

sponsors of the Creative Writing event. The Creative Writing Contest is supported by a generous Community Grant from

the Coral Gables Community Foundation.

On March 24th, Junior Orange Bowl members and Past Presidents gathered in a Zoom Meeting to install the new board members and the 51st President Samantha Jones.

The 73rd annual Junior Orange Bowl Festival, a collection of ten athletic and cultural events for youth. The Annual Meeting kicked off with Steven Gonzalez summarizing the success and challenges of his festival year under Covid-19 restrictions. Re-imaged Events, like the Toy Drive procession to Nicklaus Children’s Hospital to Chuck Little's Classic Basketball Tournaments, were able to be hosted during the 2020-2021 Festival season.

Open to 8th grade students in South Florida. One entry per student. Entries limited to a maximum of 500 words, 12-point font, typed and/or Word or PDF file format. Essays must be written in English. Essay Format ONLY.
